I am zonked and it is only 7:55 p.m. according to Miss Ashley from her room. I am going to bed right after I post this. My heart hasn't been hurting, which is good. And, am seeing my dr. tomorrow just to be sure. Two EKGs in an envelope in my purse to show her. Check out Anne Sutton's web site for Bunny Hill Designs (click at left) to see her new fabric line. It has several fabrics in it with BUNNIES! I want it! I came across an interesting pattern made with nine fat quarters, so may order nine of the fabrics and make that quilt! It is red and brown, though, which aren't my fav colors, but did I mention it had BUNNIES in it???? Gotta love that. Sister Sue sent me the templates for the March "Tisket a Tasket" block of the month and I am ever so grateful. It links us together somehow and I like that. We made chicken lettuce wraps for dinner. Tomorrow am seeing an old friend, Susan, for dinner. Just started "Tess of the D'Urbervilles" by Thomas Hardy and it is quite good. Thank you, Carrie. She has been supplying me with books of late. Sleep tight, ya'll.
Easing slowly into life without the kids at home, remembering what we did before we had kids and loving God through it all.

Into the Weekend
I have been very stressed at work. Super, crazy, busy, stressed. And, this week I began feeling pain in my heart area. Thursday I went to urgent care on my way to work. They did an EKG, which turned out fine; in fact, it matched the EKG I had pre-op when I had my hysterectomy in 2006. So, that told me the pain was stress-related. They wanted to transport me to the hospital to run further tests, but I refused. I know it is stress. Now, what to do about it. Even as I was lying on the bed in urgent care, getting electrodes stuck to various and sundry parts of my body, I knew this was crazy. No job it worth this. I have to step back and not let it get to me. So will be working on how to do this and am open to suggestions. Quitting is not an option, but that would sure feel good. The thing is, I know in my heart of hearts that God moved me into that position. I didn't know about it, didn't apply for it, didn't pray to get it - none of that. So, it was totally a God thing. I am in the desert, waiting to see what God will do next. God's waiting room can be a lonely place at times, but what He wants is faith. Big, huge, never-ending faith. And, definitely not chest pain and doubt. So, pray that I will hang in there, trust God, develop bigger and deeper faith and wait it out. He has a plan for me - plans for hope and a future. Oh, I am so glad that is the case.

I'm Back!
Well, I couldn't log in to update my blog until Carrie explained how to do it. Hmmm, good thing my kids are smarter than me. We had a great time in Texas and the wedding was beautiful. Will add some pictures as soon as I can. I loved Natalie's dress and her pink shoes. Little great-niece, Ainsley, was so adorable and sweet. We all had a great time holding her and staring at her. Wish we lived closer to watch her grow up. She's coming to CA in July, so will count the days until we can see her again. Dan's mom broke her hip and had surgery this week. She is in a convalescent hospital and not too much of a happy camper, but hopefully she can get out soon. Those places are so dismal. Now on to another week of crazy work. Make it a great week.

My Roots
My roots are El Dorado Hills,
reading in a tree,
swimming at the neighborhood pool,
swim team,
listening for the whistle to come home for dinner,
cute teachers working as lifeguards during the summer,
skiing with Diane and Barbara,
teaching swimming lessons,
being a camp counselor,
working the paddle boat rental window,
Mojave High School, Jordan High School, Wilson High School (oh, my),
Baskin Robbins,
LBCC and TNT sorority,
walks on the beach,
working at Macy’s during Christmas rush and spending everything I earned there.
My roots are oyster stew,
Chocolate turkeys from Sees,
San Francisco bread,
chicken noodle soup,
peanut butter sandwiches,
mac ‘n cheese,
guacamole,
making ravioli from scratch (once),
burgers every Saturday (what’s for dinner tonight, Mom? Mom: what night is it?),
Swanson TV dinners when the folks went out,
Christmas cookies,
Mexican wedding ring cookies,
and fudge.
My roots are don’t leave without your orange stick (when we lived in the desert),
write to your mother if you get married,
that’s a lot of girl there,
Laugh-In’s on,
one giant step for man – one giant step for mankind,
where were you when Kennedy was shot,
did you write your thank you notes.
My roots are Grandad and Jo, Rose, Grandma Del,
Grandma and Grandpa,
Aunt Dorie and Uncle Joe, Tom and Chuck,
Mom and Dad, Karen and Susan
and later, Steve, Joseph and Stephanie.
Then, Keith, Vanessa, Natalie and Whitney.
Dan, Carrie and Ashley.
Peggy, Dianna, Tiffany, Connie and George.
Best friends Barbara, Nancy and Scott, Marti, Joyce and Bill,
and, the man responsible for it all . . . God.
It is a wonderful life.

Ah, The Weekend
The gift that comes at the end of every busy, exasperating, frustrating, overwhelming work week is a weekend. I finished my Friday, missing three people and trying to keep up with the work flow, by working until 5:30. Then, I walked out of my office and immediately set off the building alarm. Didn't they know I was still in there?!?!? Guess not. Note to self: don't work late on Friday nights. THAT was embarassing. But, since then have been having some fun. Amy is in town visiting from Chicago for her birthday, Carrie came home to see her, we are celebrating Carrie's birthday today with lunch out. Ash and I went to Robin the wonder girl and have fresh cuts and more of those natural blonde highlights. We found clothes for both girls for the big Texas wedding coming up next weekend. So, short week this week and on to TX for some down-home kind of fun with family. All best wishes to Natalie and Josh as they are married on Saturday.
